Research and Planning - Make up test

An example of youtube the kind of effect I want.
Here I've decided to do some research on how to do my make up on my characters, I used Youtube to watch videos how to apply it.

Research and Planning - Film poster first draft

First Film Poster Draft.
Here I have used the same font from my magazine cover for the film title, I have decided to do this to create a synergy for the teaser trailer, I've also added a slug line and cast and crew information in 'Steel Tongs' font. However as I haven't got the photograph for my poster there's a limit of things I can add.

Research & Planning: magazine Update

Profilm magazine.
Here I have decided to hide my background, I am unsure whether to keep the background or not, it depends on how my photograph turns out, so over the half term I am going to buy some make up and fake blood so that I can make the 'final girl' appear bruised and hurt, I will also provide her old clothes that can be torn to give an abused look. By doing test shots I have decided that I want a mid long shot with a slight low angle where she appears fragile and drained. If this goes to plan then I believe there will be no need for a background as she will be strong enough to carry the magazine alone.

Research & Planning: More Test Shots

Long Shot- slight low angle

Medium Long Shot- eye level

Medium Long Shot- Slight High angle.

Mid Shot- Character looking fragile.

Mid Long Shot- High Angle, posture very timid.

Mid Long Shot- She appears to powerful, that is almost going against it.

^ ^

Long Shot- Low key lighting, no focus.

Long shot- here I attempted to do an action shot, however it's too dark as I had it on the sport setting.

Mid Long Shot- appears too pale and blured.

Mid Close Up- The flash makes her complextion too light.

Mid Close Up- Flash was used that was too over powering.

Mid Close Up- that was meant to portray the fear in her face.

Test shot- for film poster. Extreme Long shot- centred frame

Long Shot- High angle.

Mid Long Shot, slight blur.

Research and Planning - Scarecrow Influence

As the sacks arrived today, Me and Lucy have decided that were going to begin designing our mask for the scarecrow. I decided to search the internet for some examples and I have come across the Batman Begins Scarecrow character here are some of the images:

Research and Planning - Beginning of filming.

Today we began filming, we started by shooting the news report scene with reader 1 - Mike. We used the green screen, as I as editor will then insert a background image that will hopefully look professional, we used props such as a desk, laptop and papers as Mike sat behind the desk reading the news report.

Research & Planning: update

Research & Planning: Test shots magazine cover

These are some photographs I took on an SLR camera of Emily who is the victim in our teaser trailer, these are just a variety of photo's that give me an idea of the shot type I want on my film magazine.
Mid Long shot with a slight low angle

Long Shot with a low angle

Mid Long Shot- facial expression looking worried

Mid Long Shot

Mid Long Shot looking scared

Mid Long Shot- looking over the shoulder shocked.
Then I went outside in an urban area where I took numerous of photographs or branches, this is an idea to have as a background on my magazine cover, however it depends how my photograph turns out as it may not match the 3 colour theme that I am aiming to have.

Long Shot- the fence spoils the photograph.

Long Shot- slight high key lighting.

Low angle- slight low key lighting

Research and Planning - Meeting

Today Lucy and I decided to meet up too talk about the our title of the film for our teaser trailer, after researching we thought that it would be a good idea to use an idea from River Road Entertainment production company where the torch light pans across the screen, we thought this would be effective in our teaser trailer due to the name 'After Dark' however we were unsure how this would work on final cut pro so we asked our Media Studies teacher and she mentioned the use of cinema 3D, so next lesson were going to experiment with that and see if it's manageable.

Research & Planning: Test shot for the trailer.

Over the past couple of days Lucy and I decided to film our teaser trailer test shots around college to gain an understanding of what we need to do on shooting day, we also wanted to see if any changes needed to be made. We then decided to add this onto movie maker where we added a couple of editing transactions and sound to create an overview of how it will look.
