Throughout the year I believe that the audience feedback I have received has being extremely helpful as to in decisions I have had to make and shape and forming each production I have completed, these are the type of audience feedback I have used during the year.
Interviews:
Firstly I interviewed members of my class to find out what of what they expect from a teaser trailer by asking a numerous of questions from favorite genre to what codes and conventions they expect in a teaser trailer, this was very useful especially in differentiated between a full length trailer and a teaser trailer, also this helped me decided on a genre I wanted to produce.
Questionnaires:
These were handed out to the majority of the classroom, the questionnaire focused on my chosen genre 'horror', the purpose was to find out an audiences expectations of a horror teaser trailer from the Cinematography,Sound,Mise-en-scene and Editing. Once I collected the results this helped me and Lucy to think about a pitch.
Proposals:
Once we made our final decision of the genre we then created proposal where we had three plot ideas, to help us decide on what one to use we then produced a question using the social networking site Twitter for audience feedback, I apposed the question of 'What horror film plot appeals to you the most, a mad man killer or the curse of the scarecrow?'. I was very happy with the result as many people commented their opinions and helped us decided a final plot 'curse of the scarecrow'
Masthead of the film magazine:
I then used social networking site Twitter again to help me decided on a magazine title, I decided to use this as there was a broader audience to ask rather than sticking to my media class. There was 5 options to chose from where the majority chose 'ProFilm'.
Production Logos:
Once we began thinking about producing production company logos, I drew 7 sketches, I then asked for some audience feedback of what one they preferred, although there was a split in the class I decided to use the two popular ones and merge ideas together on Photoshop SC5.
Magazine masthead font:
After the decision of 'ProFilm' I then used dafont.com to search for some unique font types, due to the vast choice chose a number of them, this was when I didn't know what one worked best, I decided I needed some audience feedback I asked numerous of students from my class also my teacher, they all agreed that 'Telegrafico' had a clean film sort look to it.
Teaser Trailer Feedback:
Receiving feedback from the class was very helpful especially as it was from another spectators eyes rather than mine or Lucy's, it somehow answered my questions of it being suspenseful as to if they understood the narrative. The point of strengths and weaknesses helped us to tweak and change elements of the trailer so that we could improve the product.
Poster and Magazine Feedback:
Again a similar process of the teaser trailer audience feedback of them answering questions of the type of narrative, the strengths and weaknesses of both magazine cover and poster. This was very helpful in the appearance of both products, especially with the detail of small mistakes from font size to the placement of certain text or shapes.
Teachers feedback:
This was extremely important to me as it gave me an idea of what I was doing right throughout the entire production of my teaser trailer, poster and magazine cover.
