Research & Planning: Film Poster analysis 1

This is 'The Blair Witch Project' film poster, the conventions of horror are shown through the media language. An Extreme long shot shows one of three protagonist, suggesting that they are a main character in the film, the low angle used suggests that the character may feel afraid/insecure. The dark haunted colours gives us a sense of the type of genre along with the Mise-en-scene of the tall daunting woodlands behind.  The use of using a young character and the title 'Project' creates an assumption that a young target audience (15-25) is being targeted, as the story line revolves around a camping trip for a school project. The font used is almost woodcut like, reflecting the symbol used throughout the narrative, the typical white colour gives us this haunted/horror affect, the description above the photograph is almost documentary as its setting a scene for the audience.  You can tell that it's a film poster as the cast and crew information using SteelTongs font along with production company logos are conventionally lay at the bottom of the page. Also a web address allowing the audience to interact with the film more in depth.
