Research & Planning: Production and title editing research.

Dont Be Afraid Of The Dark film trailer.
As Editor I have decided to research editing conventions typically used in horror movies, by looking at 'Dont be afraid of the dark' teaser trailer. The use of editing influences me and helps me have an idea of what I would like in my own, for example at the beginning of the trailer, the production title is shown, the dark colours used with a faint ghostly back glow where light then wipes across the text is really effective as its that haunted feel. The black title frame that is used for a long period is good, I think this could work well especially connecting to our title 'After Dark', also it can lead to an anxious audience and let their imaginations get the better of them building suspense. When the title is shown it appears very bright, however gradually fades darker with a back image of a torch creating this fog look, this could represent on our narrative in relation to camping. Lastly I thought the the production title at (11:13) was very effective as it had a back glow of a pure white colour center of the frame, however surrounded with pitch black allowing it to have a mystery horror convention to the film.
